What Is PZT Piezoelectric Ceramics?

Piezoelectric ceramic wafers (piezoelectric ceramics) are also known as transducers, piezoelectric ceramics are ceramics with piezoelectric effects, called piezoelectric ceramics. It is an indispensable and important part of the field of modern electronic technology, piezoelectric ceramics are widely used in modern communications, radar, sonar, automatic measurement and control, ultrasonic transducing, ignition and detonation, ultrasonic sterilization, ultrasonic power and other aspects.
It has a strange piezoelectric effect characteristic, that is, when subjected to a small external force, it can turn mechanical energy into electrical energy, and when alternating voltage is added, it will turn electrical energy into mechanical energy.
PZT piezoelectric ceramics (lead zirconate titanate): where P is the abbreviation of the lead element Pb, Z is the abbreviation of the zirconium element Zr, T is the abbreviation of titanium element Ti, PZT piezoelectric ceramics are polycrystalline sintered by lead dioxide, lead zirconate, lead titanate at a high temperature of 1200 degrees. It has a positive piezoelectric effect and a negative piezoelectric effect.
PZT is a solid solution of PbZrO3 and PbTiO3 with a perovskite-type structure. PbTiO3 and PbZrO3 are typical representatives of ferroelectrics and antiferroelectrics, because Zr and Ti belong to the same subfamily, PbTiO3 and PbZrO3 have similar spatial lattice forms, but the macroscopic characteristics of the two are very different, lead titanate is ferroelectric, its Curie temperature is 492 °C, and lead zirconate is antiferroelectric, Curie temperature is 232 °C, such a big difference has attracted widespread attention.
After studying the solid solution of PbTiO3 and PbZrO3, it was found that PZT has better piezoelectric and dielectric properties than other ferroelectrics, and PZT and doped PZT series ferroelectric ceramics have become the focus of research in recent years.
